Management Team

Moshe Steiner, Chief Executive Officer

Moshe Steiner is the chief executive officer of Lucid. With more than 20 years of executive experience, mostly in the fabless semiconductor industry, Moshe is uniquely positioned to drive Lucid’s leadership in meeting the industry’s growing demand for high-performance 3D graphics.

Moshe formerly was vice president and co-general manager of Marvell Israel (which acquired Galileo Technology), a leader in storage, communications and consumer silicon solutions. He was responsible for the multimillion-dollar business of the switched products group business unit of Galileo; managed the Marvell Israel activities with over 400 employees; and led the MMX cluster development of the first Pentium-MMX CPU. He also took part in the development and implementation of the i80486 CPU.

He previously served as chief operations officer of Oplus Technologies Ltd., prior to its acquisition by Intel, and as vice president of technologies at Zapex Technologies, a Japanese-American VLSI company that developed solutions for MPEG-2 digital video compression applications. Before Zapex, Moshe held various management roles at Intel for more than 10 years.

Moshe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and an MBA from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.


Offir Remez, Co-Founder, President & Vice President of Business Development

Offir Remez, the co-Founder, president and vice president of business development, is an experienced entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience and hands-on skills in management, sales and marketing and who specializes in compression and game technologies. He has a proven track record for growing companies from an idea into a revenue-generating business.

Prior to Lucid, Offir was the founder and former CEO of Enbaya Inc., a company that develops and licenses real-time compression technology for the PC and video game market. He is a recognized expert in high-performance systems, 3D graphics, video and image compression, image processing, and pattern recognition.

Offir holds a Master of Science degree in math and computer science from Tel Aviv University.

 


Dr. Reuven Bakalash, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Reuven Bakalash is the co-founder and chief technology officer of Lucid, with a strong record of successful entrepreneurship and scientific research.

As a scientist at the State University of New York-Stony Brook, Reuven developed the CUBE architecture, for medical volume visualization, which was further commercialized by Mitsubishi America.

Later, Reuven founded and served as president of Terra Computers Ltd. in Israel, a vendor of application-oriented parallel supercomputers for drug design and financial simulation applications. He also founded and was chief technology officer of Mountain View, Calif.-based HyperRoll Inc., which provides accelerating software that enables a very high level of speed, data volume and dimensions to business intelligence.

Reuven received his doctorate in computer science from Ben-Gurion University; a master of science in computer science from Ben-Gurion University; and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He is the author and co-author of many patents and published papers on algorithms, systems and architectures of 3D computer graphics, volume visualization, and analytical databases.


David Belz, Vice President of Engineering

David Belz, the Vice President of Engineering for Lucid, is an expert in the design, development and delivery of advanced technology systems.

Prior to joining Lucid in 2008, David was the Director of Engineering for Cisco Systems for 11 years, where he led R&D developments in Israel and a team of more than 130 engineers working on high-end routers, network processors and related networking initiatives.

Earlier in his career, David was an engineering manager at RAD Data Communication, defining products and systems architectures for network interface cards, and at a startup called RADWAY, where he developed fiber channel products and established the R&D team. He also worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as a VLSI designer from 1988-1992.

Fluent in Spanish, English and Hebrew, David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. He also earned an MBA from the Kellogg-Recanati program, administered jointly by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and Tel Aviv University’s Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration. He holds five patents in the fields of IP networking and fast IP engines.


Andrew Schmied, Vice President of Marketing

Andrew Schmied is the Vice President of Marketing for Lucid, joining the company in early 2007 with extensive knowledge in the direction of video cards, mobile and computational platform technologies.

He previously spent 16 years in various marketing and leadership roles at ATI Technologies Inc., a major designer and supplier of graphics processing units, motherboard chipsets, and video display cards.

Most recently, he served as a Senior Director of Marketing of the ATI Embedded Display division, where he guided technical marketing strategies for gaming, imaging and custom computing; sponsored relationships with Intel, AMD, Freescale and IBM; contributed to long-range technology planning; and managed global marketing, sales and engineering teams. Earlier roles included OEM strategic planning, technical marketing, and serving as a group marketing manager and product manager for graphics cards and systems.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor, in Ontario, Canada, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from York University in Toronto.


Itzik Ben Haroosh - Vice President of Finance

Itzik Ben Haroosh is Lucid’s vice president of finance, bringing more than 15 years of financial experience in accounting, consulting, international taxation and planning.

Itzik joined Lucid from LightSand Technologies, a global leader in the development and delivery of SAN connectivity products, where he was Vice President of Finance.

Prior to LightSand, Itzik served as corporate controller for SANcastle Technologies, a start-up that developed remote SAN connectivity, until its acquisition by LightSand in 2003. Before that, he held several management positions with Ernst & Young Israel, including senior manager with responsibilities over both private and public companies.

Itzik is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics and accounting from Haifa University and a master of laws degree (LL.M.) from Bar-Ilan University in Israel.
